MIMAS: Moon of Saturn

Herschel, the crater

Herschel, named after William Herschel, is a HUGE crater on Mimas' surface. This crater was discovered in 1980.
It is 139 kilometers in diameter, which is almost one-third of the diameter of the moon! According to Wikipedia, if there were a crater like Herschel on Earth, it would be over 4,000 kilometers in diameter and wider than CANADA! The crater that formed Herschel nearly destroyed Mimas, and fractures can be seen all over the moon.
